How we find similar casinos

Two casinos are similar when they have the same things. We compare 14 of them and show you exactly what is shared, so you can check every number yourself.

Payments count most, because they decide whether you can get your money in and out. Game providers, languages and licences come next.

Step 1: what share do they have in common?

For each of the 14, we take what both casinos have and divide it by everything either of them has. Here are the payment methods of Oshi and Axe:

Payments at Oshi and Axe
6 only at Oshi 33 at both 7 only at Axe

33 at both÷46 in total=72% the same

Two casinos with identical lists share 100%, and two with nothing in common share 0%. Extra items on either side lower the share, because they are differences too. Mathematicians call this the Jaccard index.

Payout speed is one value, not a list, so it works by distance: the same speed counts 100%, the next one up or down 50%, anything further apart 0%.

Step 2: the weighted average

The result is the average of all the shares, where the things that matter more count more:

in common = (w1·J1 + w2·J2 + … + w14·J14) ÷ (w1 + w2 + … + w14)

Here is the whole calculation for Oshi and Axe:

  • Payments72% in commonweight 13
  • Game providers65% in commonweight 10
  • Languages83% in commonweight 9
  • Licences100% in commonweight 9

Not counted, because one of them doesn’t list it

  • CertificatesNot listed for eitherweight 4

In common, weighted81%

(13 × 72% + 10 × 65% + 9 × 83% + 9 × 100% + 8 × 80% + 7 × 73% + 7 × 100% + 5 × 100% + 4 × 13% + 4 × 100% + 4 × 100% + 3 × 100% + 3 × 67%) ÷ 86 = 81%

Step 3: you choose what matters most

On every “similar casinos” page and every comparison you can pick what matters most to you. Each thing you pick counts 3 times as much: payments go from 13 to 39, for example. The results update straight away.

Step 4: group, don’t rank

We group similar casinos by how much they have in common, so you can pick from a group instead of chasing a number one:

  • Almost the same80% or more in common
  • Very similar65 to 79% in common
  • Similar50 to 64% in common
  • Some things in commonUnder 50% in common

When data is missing

Our casino database is not complete. When one of the two casinos doesn’t list something, we leave it out and divide by the weights that are left. We never treat missing data as a difference.

A result needs at least three things, worth at least 60% of the total weight between them. Otherwise we don’t show it at all, because a match on a few thin lists says little.

What never changes the result

  • Reviews and ratings.
  • Survey answers about why players leave a casino.
  • Bonuses, which change too often to compare fairly.
  • Whether a casino pays us. Some “Visit” links may earn us a commission; the groups stay the same.

The only filters are the ones you choose, such as your country or fast payouts.
